Compared to most private practices in the area, Broad View Eye Center is a giant, but we haven't always been. We have humble roots. We started the business from scratch back in ‘02 with one employee and not knowing a soul. The early years were tough. Sometimes we would only see one or two patients a day. A day! We stuck to our plan though, which was to treat patients like family. Fast forward 20 years, and Broad View Eye Center is a busy, bustling practice. The three of us still spend most of our time in the clinic seeing patients and weighing in on day-to-day decisions. Although we have grown significantly, we haven't lost sight (no pun intended) of why we did this in the first place: To make patients feel special and cared for. So thank you for the privilege of being your eye care providers.
Dr. Nicolette Scott, Dr. Josie Kosunick, and Dr. Douglas Wiersma
Our doctors have many different interests like being a foodie, dog-lover, music-geek, health-nut, and interior design enthusiast; but they all share the same passion, which is giving the best patient care.
Upon graduating from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2001, Dr. Scott founded the practice in the Fall of 2002. With a specialty in pediatrics, she received a fellowship from the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, to further her knowledge and study of pediatrics and binocular vision.
Dr. Kosunick grew up in Solon (go, Comets!) and never envisioned crossing the bridge to set up roots on the west side. However, now she couldn’t imagine life any other way. Dr. Kosunick is a proud resident of Olmsted Township, where she and her fellow optometrist husband, Greg, are raising their three children.
As a child, Dr. Wiersma was inspired early on by the immediate gratification of improved eyesight while sitting in an exam chair. This transformative experience took him from the University of Dayton, with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, to The Ohio State University College of Optometry, where he graduated Cum Laude. Dr. Wiersma enjoys practicing all aspects of optometry, with a special interest in ocular disease, and all things nearsighted (like him)
The path was set in the 6th grade after researching careers for a school project. This path led Dr. Ashley to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences at The Ohio State University. She opted to stay put to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree.A native of North Royalton, she and her husband currently call Medina home (if you find yourself in Medina, she encourages you to try P.J. Marley’s and take a stroll around the square).
Dr. Alquist graduated in 2016 from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology. Being the ever-devoted Buckeye, Dr. Alquist continued her college career at The Ohio State College of Optometry and graduated cum laude. A lifelong Columbus native, it was her husband, Michael, who convinced her they should make Cleveland their forever home.
